I connected with Thierry on the recommendation of a friend. Frankly, I was very hesitant about taking the step of engaging a French tutor--my base knowledge of French was bad, I didn't want to embarrass myself, I didn't think it would be helpful. Now, after several months of weekly conversations with Thierry, my language skills have improved hugely, and I don't get stage fright anymore when our Skype sessions begin. After a wonderful trip last fall to the southwest of France, made especially enjoyable by French language lessons and excursions with Professor Thierry Fouquet of the Lot, I decided to give online lessons a try. I just didn't want to end my great experience in France, but I confess I was reluctant and prepared to dislike Skyping. I feared it wouldn't be the same as in-person learning. I was happily surprised! My weekly Skype lessons with Thierry are not only lively and fun but also educational and practical: would I be boasting if I say my French is really coming along? Our face-to-face chats are based on a few articles Thierry sends each week, but as in any real, spontaneous conversation, we stray and digress. And I learn a lot! Thierry sets the tasks and provides considerable motivation, but he is a flexible, forgiving teacher, one tolerant of my many mistakes. Oh yes, he corrects egregious errors, but he doesn't let excessive pedantry slow us down. I feel comfortable with Thierry and with the online platform, and perhaps, most importantly, I feel I am continuing to learn and improve my French. I unreservedly recommend Thierry's online conversational French lessons.

For the last two years I have been taking French lessons with Thierry. He has been the perfect French teacher for me. His lessons are fun, relevant, flexible and individualized. I first met Thierry in Gourdon, France where I enrolled for private tutoring at the local French school. As an American living in California, and life-long francophile, I was delighted to learn at the end of my time in Gourdon that I could continue my studies over Skype and I decided to give it a try. I am so glad that I did. French language and all things French have now become a regular integral part of my life thanks to Thierry. Initially I had weekly lessons at 6 AM California time for an hour before starting my work day as a doctor. Now most weeks, I meet with Thierry over Skype three days a week. We read articles from the French press which Thierry emails to me on a regular basis. As a teacher, Thierry, is patient and knowledgeable in both English and French. He has given me an insider's look into French culture and way of life. We discuss in French everything from American politics to books we have read, to family and cooking. Most recently we discussed various flavors of ice cream. If you are looking for an opportunity to expand your worldview, improve your French, and have fun while doing it from the comfort of your own home, I urge you to start French lessons with Thierry.
